Canonical visit to Vietnam: Sister Lucy Jacob successfully completed her canonical visit to Vietnam from June 19th to July 3rd. Her visit was very fruitful, bringing much hope and blessings to the region, as experienced by the regional members. Sister Lucy also feels happy and contented with her mission.
Back to school! Sisters Mary Valiyankal, Suman Toppo, and Beatrice Tshilemba began their language classes on July 8th at the language centre. Mary and Suman will attend for three weeks while Beatrice will attend for four weeks. They all share the same sense of joy and confusion, finding the process both challenging and rewarding. For them it’s a true “Babel” experience.
Family visit: Sister Marie Louise Peeters enjoyed some delightful days with the members of her family from June 21st to June 29th. She had a very relaxed in their company; she regained her energy and returned to the community refreshed and joyful.
Seminar on mission: Sister Angelique Dikete attended a seminar from July 1st to July 5th in France. The theme of the seminar was “The Missionary Dream”. The event aimed to deepen understanding of missionary life and explore collective visions for mission in different contexts. It addressed the challenges of dreaming in a world marked by violence, identity withdrawal, and dechristianization. The seminar emphasized the importance of dreams in inspiring commitment and fostering hope in missionary initiatives.
Family visit: From July 4th to July 15th, Sister Kim Chi Duong visited her family. She combined her annual holiday with being with her ailing father. Her presence was a great support to her family members as well. She returned physically tired but emotionally fulfilled with her father feeling better and she is grateful for the opportunity she had to be with her father during his time of need.
Mission to England: Sister Rosily Mathew travelled to England from July 16th to 18th to participate at a meeting with the Trustees – the body responsible for the financial management of the Region.
Jubilee celebration: The generalate community was honoured to celebrate the jubilees of three of its members: Sister Marie Louise Peeters (sixty years), Sister Valsam Jose (fifty years), and Sister Kim Chi Duong (twenty-five years) on 20th of July. The day began with a meaningful prayer service in a joyful atmosphere, with much preparation despite the short time available. We were blessed with the presence of four priests for the Eucharistic celebration which featured beautiful singing. The theme of the day was “Thanks for All That Has Been and Yes to All That Will Be.” The evening continued with a vibrant gathering of the community members, filled with laughter and colour, marking a memorable conclusion of the jubilee festivities.
