On 9th August 2024, the Province of Pakistan had the installation of the newly appointed provincial team. The ceremony was held with a meaningful prayer service at the provincialate, Lahore. While sisters of the near-by communities were present in person, others of the province participated virtually. The members of the General Council and other members of the Generalate community, the International Community, Gent, and several sisters of the Dutch-speaking region were also present online. The Superior General, Sister Lucy Jacob, made the appointment of the new team online from Brussels.

The celebration began at 5:30 pm with a prayer service, prepared by the Formation Team, with the theme “Pilgrims of Hope, Go and do likewise”. All the sisters entered the Sacred Heart School Hall, led by Sister Victoria Rehmat, the former Provincial, holding the Paschal Candle along with her team. A hymn (Christ be our light) was played while all the sisters entered the hall.

The prayer service was prepared around the symbol a Rainbow and Dove: Rainbow symbolizing “Divine Hope” and dove “Divine Peace”.

Each member of the new team was anointed by Sister Victoria Rehmat, Sister Philipa Constant, Sister Maria Teresa, Sister Sabina Barkat, and Sister Genevieve Ram Lal as we invoked the Holy Spirit, entrusting this new beginning to God, asking Him to send His Spirit of wisdom and insight, the Spirit of council and fortitude, the Spirit of humility and of justice, the Spirit of charity and compassion, and loyalty upon the new team so that these coming years of leadership may deepen our spirituality and communal bond.

At the conclusion of the prayer, it was time for celebration: cake-cutting, singing and dancing … all of which culminated in a sumptuous meal that we all enjoyed.
