Nieuws uit het Generalaat

August - September 2024

  • Canonical visit to Rwanda: Sister Lucy Jacob made her canonical visit to the Vice-Province of Our Lady of Kibeho, Rwanda, from 15th to 31st August. She was happy to meet the sisters, visit their communities and ministries and see the growth of the Vice-Province.
  • Immersion experience: On 15th August, Sisters Angélique Dikete, Béatrice Tshilemba and Suman Toppo went to the provinces of Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Saint Bernard, D.R. Congo respectively for an immersion experience among our sisters in another continent. This gives them an opportunity to learn and practice a second congregational language besides having an experiential understanding of internationality and interculturality in the Congregation. We wish them a fruitful and enriching time.

Sister Mary Joseph Valiyankal is still waiting for her new residential permit to be able to travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo for the same purpose. We hope she will get it soon.

  • Visit: The Generalate community had the visit of Emmanuel Duong, Sister Kim-Chi’s brother, from 9th to 11th August. He was very happy about his stay and grateful to the sisters for their hospitality. His visit brought much joy and laughter to the community.
  • Retreats: Sisters Mary Joseph Valiyankal and Rosily Mathew made their annual retreat in a Jesuit Center in Drongen from 17th to 25th August. Sisters Kim-Chi Duong and Sylvia Chabala joined a group-retreat in La Pairelle, a Jesuit spiritual Center in Wépion, in July-August. Sister Suman made her annual retreat in the Congo from 19th to 27th August. They enjoyed this privileged time to be in deep intimacy with the Lord and felt spiritually strengthened and renewed.

Sister Marie-Louise Peeters is having her retreat in a hermitage of the Sisters of Bethlehem in Maasmechelen from 5th to 14th September. So also Sister Béatrice Tshilemba in Sri Lanka. May they experience the Lord’s loving presence in the silence of the beautiful nature and be filled with His graces and blessings.

  • Holidays: After their retreat, Sister Rosily went to the community of Belgium South in Saint-Servais, and Sister Sylvia to Terhaegen community, Ghent for a week’s holiday. They had a restful and relaxing time and enjoyed the sisters’ company and sharing. Their joyful presence was much appreciated by both communities.
  • Family visits: On 10th September, Sister Lucy Jacob goes to India to visit her family. While in the country, she will also make her annual retreat. We wish her a good and well-deserved holiday, a happy time with her dear ones, and a grace-filled retreat.

On 22nd September, Sister Valsam Jose goes to India to join other jubilarians of her batch in Delhi province for a five-days refresher program followed by a retreat and Golden Jubilee celebrations. Thereafter, she goes on a holiday with her family. We wish her a fruitful and meaningful time with the sisters in the province and a joyful and relaxed time at home.
