The 7th of October 2024, feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, was a significant day for the Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary in the Province of Sri Lanka. It was the day that we received two young women who dedicated their whole self for the primacy of God’s love, by choosing the way of life which we have received from God through our Founder, Rev. Fr. Peter Joseph Triest.

The two sisters, Sister Hiruni Sathya Livera and Sister Niyomi Fernandez, pronounced their vows before the assembly during the Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Jeyraj Rasaiah SJ and concelebrated by Frs. Anton Sriyan and Roger Peris SSS.

Rev. Sister Patsy Pitchai, our Provincial Superior, and her Councilors, the family members of our two newly professed sisters, many other sisters, fathers and other distinguished guests were present at the solemn Eucharistic celebration, at St. Joseph’s Convent, Kegalle. ‘We love, because He first loved us...’ was the theme for the day, which added more meaning to the consecration of our dear sisters, Hiruni and Niyomi. The Eucharistic celebration was followed by a festive meal and the newly professed sisters received their first appointments from the Provincial Superior.

It was a day of joy and celebration for all of us in the Province of Sri Lanka, and we all welcomed our newly professed sisters with much love and warmth. We wish and pray that the Good Lord, who began a good work in them, may bring it to completion according to his holy desire.
