On 23 May 2026, the Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary celebrated those sisters marking 60, 70 and 75 years of profession!

As always, this celebration was prepared well in advance by the General Council and the Sisters of Terhaegen. The day began with a meaningful Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr Herbert Vandersmissen. The chapel was elegantly decorated and the choir and organist gave their all to make it a wonderful occasion.

The Eucharistic celebration was followed by a reception held in the refurbished and restored chapter room. It was a convivial gathering where the sisters came together to offer their congratulations to those celebrating their jubilees.

Meanwhile, the kitchen team, led by chefs Koen and Anne, had served a delicious and extensive cold buffet in the sisters’ refectory. Everyone clearly enjoyed the delicacies on offer.

This was followed by a speech from the Superior General, Sr Lucy Jacob, addressed to the Jubilarians, in which she used the image of a burning candle and applied it to their lives. Each Jubilarian then received a gift from the General Council.

The day ended on a cheerful note, with the sisters dancing a polonaise between the tables. With a heartfelt word of thanks to the staff and volunteers, we were able to look back on a very successful celebration.
