On Thursday 23/5/24, Sister Angélique Dikete learned of the sudden passing of her brother Dikete Shungu Onokoko Oscar. The Generalate community joined her in prayer and a memorial Mass was celebrated at the same time as his funeral in Congo. Some of her family members living in Belgium joined the community for this Mass.
On 24 May, we were delighted to welcome Sister Elizabeth Roche and Sister Helen O’Brien from the Anglo-Irish Region. They came to participate in the celebration of our sisters’ jubilees in Ghent. The General Government (GG) took this opportunity to hold a meeting on the Region’s finances with Mr. Alan King, the Region’s Financial Director. Their visit also enabled the GG to bring together the three leaders of the European entities for an update on their respective situations and to plan for the future.
On 25 May 2024, the entire Generalate community went to Terhaegen, the Mother House in Ghent, for the great celebration of the jubilees of our sisters who have twenty-five, fifty, sixty and seventy years of religious life.
From May 29 to June 4, 2024, the members of the General Council took part in a training course organized by Faith and Praxis on team building and in the International Leadership Development Program (ILDP) in Rome. The initial stages of these training modules were conducted online, with the onsite session in Rome the program was concluded. On 7 June 2024, the general team came back to Brussels.
